Talent spotted in the Copa America Argentina 2011

During the first half of the opening game in the Copa America 2011, one of the players that caught attention was Ezequiel “Pocho” Lavezzi, a fast pace Argentina striker. Who at his 26 years, play for Napoli in Italy.

He created some frantic attacks thru the right wing where he was deploy. Today the Napoli player lacked a more regular and accurate crossing of the ball and finishing, and was eventually substituted by the match winner Kun Aguero.

Embarrass start for Argentina!

In a game with stars such as Lionel Messi, Carlos Tevez, and Angel Di Maria (as a substitute), a super volley goal from Kun Agüero (71´), saw a lackluster Argentina draw with the underdogs Bolivia.

An early effort on goal from Bolivia left everyone in the stadium stun with an unexpected goal from Edivaldo Rojas (47´), after a clanger from Ever Banega and the goalkeeper Sergio Romero.

Is André Villas-Boas just a mini-me, or the Real deal?.

Well, he already escaped from the shadow that José Mourinho left in Porto by breaking his record of most matches unbeaten across all competitions (from 33 to 36). Apart from that, he at the age of 33, is the youngest manager to win a European competition (with Porto). Not pleased with that , he manage to get the most wins in Europe in one season by a Portuguese club (14), got the most points in a Portuguese league season (84), the highest number of consecutive wins in the Portuguese league (16) and yeah, the biggest margin over the second placed team in the league (21)...

Russian shame, again!

Shouldn't this racist "fan" be banned from the club’s Stadium for life???. Stop Racism!!!

De Gea committed to United.

The arrive of David De Gea to Old Trafford is confirmed, at least in the program " Radio Estadio" of Onda Cero, a radio network of the pretigious group Antena 3. The fee is 20 milion euros, and the 21 years old goalkeeper will surely take the mantle from Edwin Van der Sar . Sir Alex Ferguson already showed his interest for the young goalkeeper of Atlético de Madrid. The Portuguese agent Jorge Mendes is in charge of the operation.

Mourinho really in for the take?

A big rumor in Spain is spreading across Santiago Bernabeu walls, about Jose Mourinho!, who apparently either winning La Liga, Copa del Rey, and UEFA Champions League, or losing all!, will leave at the end of the season! This and his recent link to clubs such as Manchester United, Manchester City, and even Chelsea, makes you wonder if it’s really something happening behind the doors at Real Madrid.

In his late declaration in London, Jose was full of praise for his team, and said that next season will see the likes of Di Maria, and Ozil flourish. This totally contradicts the rumor. But at the end, Jose Mourinho is one of the best at deflecting attention!!!...

Make it or break it!!!

The coming games are about to define the season of Manchester United. While they still hold a slender lead in the Premier League, they now face Liverpool and a victory is necessary to keep the path to the 19 Premier League Trophy!.

After that they will face Arsenal in a mouthwatering match, to define which team goes thru to the semifinal of the F.A. Cup. Just three days after is the game against Olympique de Marseille, and winning is imperative to keep the UEFA Champions League ambition alive.

It’s probably in this part of the season, where the squad is tested to the fullest, and Champions are made!...

It ain't over 'til it's over!!!

Ok for those of you who doesn’t follow the Spanish league “La Liga”, let me give you some lines of a dreadful game between Almeria Vs Deportivo La Coruña
Almeria 1-0, and controlling the game quite well, 4 minutes of aggregate time!, corner kick for Deportivo, and everyone go for it, including the Depor goalkeeper Daniel Aranzubia, and with a header he manage to score just before the final whistle! Almeria 1-1 Deportivo...Magnificent!

Is Fernando Torres that good???

Strait forward, YES!. Players likes this rarely come to the game these days!. After joining Chelsea for a British transfer fee of £50 million you would probably expect him to be an instant hit, but just as people are saying lately “ he’s not living up to his price tag!”, still there are more facts to look around. First, he wasn’t at his pick or 100% fit when he was sold! ( he was barely getting back from a rough patch!). Second and most important, is the fact that a player, normally need a period of time to adapt to chance especially when the transfer happened in this period.

The change of tactics, and system in Chelsea F.C. is probably obvious to any football fan, and hence the team is finding it hard to thrive in the game. Perhaps he wasn’t the type of player they needed the most, at least at the moment! And it indeed, it could be the type of fantasy football signing you would expect from Roman Abramovich, but something we can’t take away from Fernando “El Niño” Torres is his quality. From 2001-2007 when he played for Atlético de Madrid, he Score 82 Goals in 214 appearances, for Liverpool he Score 65 Goals in 102 appearances.

Whether he will become the new Andriy Shevchenko and end up Walking Alone, or manage to get to the level you would expect from him is still to be seeing!.

Is Barcelona the best team in the World???.

Don’t get me wrong!, I appreciate the good football, and I recognize that Barcelona are probably the best team passing the ball, even in pressure!. But I find the label of “ the best team in the world” a bit too much!. For me, the Spanish league “ La Liga” is not strong enough!, the opposition at times does seem to be scare of facing Barca!, and is quite rare to see a team putting pressure on them, and cutting the pace of their game!, aside from Hercules who manage to stunt everyone with their 2-0 win at the Camp Nou last year on Septiember 11th.
Another clear example is the approach that took Manuel Preciado, when Real Sporting Gijon played Barcelona in El Molinón Stadium on February 12th, ,for many it was a gamble, but if you consider that on their previous encounter it took Barca 49 minutes to open the score, with the only goal of the game, then it is clear that it’s not luck!, it a combination of playing with no fear, concentration, an playing every ball as if the world depend on it!.

Anyway, it was good to see that all this theory actually happening when Arsenal played them in the first leg of the Round of 16. They actually got trampled, and knocked down over for 70 minutes!, but at the end manage to pass them!. Still, I would expect a completely different match on the second leg!...

What better way to be back than a funny fact!

Apparently in the latest UEFA Europa league Clash of the Round 32, played in the Kleanthis Vikelidis Stadium, between Aris Thessaloniki Vs Manchester City, the programme had been withdrawn by the Greek Club due to a little mistake!. Instead of putting a picture of the real team, they used an internet picture which include the likes of Wayne Rooney, Wesley Sneijder, Luis Fabiano, “Kun” Aguero, Fernando Torres, Kaká, Steven Pienaar, Diego Forlán, Robin Van Persie, Lionel Messi, Robinho, Gianluigi Buffon, Ashley Cole, Steven Gerrad, Arjen Robben, Mesut Ozil, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and “Where’s is Wally”, among others!. Not convince yet?, check ebay, where you can actually buy one!.
